Faith in Action, a program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is a nationwide network of interfaith volunteer caregiving programs. Faith in Action of McHenry County is a network of religious congregations, community agencies and civic-minded individuals with a tradition of human concern for others.

Our Mission: To work with seniors of our community who live at home to assist them and their families in maintaining their independence, dignity and quality of life.

Our Goal: To provide volunteer services to seniors living at home who request assistance in fulfilling their needs.

As a national spokesperson, Touched by an Angel's Della Reese is leading an effort to spread the word about Faith in Action. Along with her efforts, Faith in Action is telling the country about a national study, which found that:

• More than one quarter of Americans over age 55, approximately 16 million people, struggle with daily activities as simple as shopping, cooking and housework.
• Nearly one half of those who have difficulty do not receive any help from family or others.

Faith in Action volunteers come from churches, synagogues and other houses of worship, as well as the community at large. With this volunteer assistance, members of the community can maintain their independence for as long as possible.
